Archangel Michael, Castel Sant'Angelo, Rome, Italy
Atop the Castel Sant'Angelo sits a statue of Archangel Michael, who appeared to Pope Gregory the Great in 590, signaling the end of the plague. We found our way to the top of the castel (not an easy task with all the ramps and stairs) just as the sun was setting. While people enjoyed the sunset, I looked up at this statue of the saint, admiring the significance as well as the beautiful light.
