Castel Sant'Angelo, Rome, Italy
Roman emperors are buried, and popes took refuge, here. In 590, Archangel Michael (statue on top) appeared to Pope Gregory signaling the end of the plague. This photo was taken very early in the morning after a night's rain. We crossed Ponte Sant'Angelo (bridge with statues of angels) on our way to tour the Vatican Museum and St Peter's Basilica. I was impressed by the reflections, the early morning sky and the stillness before a bustle of people filled the streets.
