Bayon Temple, Angkor Thom, Angkor, Cambodia
Angkor was the capital of the Khmer Empire from the 9th through 13th centuries. It was covered by the jungle for hundreds of years and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The temples were built by several kings. Bayon was built by Jayavarman VII. We spent 2 days touring the site and our private guide Sok would tease us with "just 20 more temples". We left the crowds at the front of this temple as he lead us through the maze of hallways. Nearing the back I noticed this doorway that framed other passageways and trees. I waited for my friends and guide to turn into one of those doorways and took this photo.
